Heal's Furniture

John Harris Heal was founder in 1810 of the Heal's furniture manufacturing and retail business in London. In 1893 Ambrose Heal (1872-1959), a furniture designer, joined the family company and the profile of Heal's started to reflect the fashionable trends in furniture design. From the Arts and Crafts movement through the decades to furniture sold by Bauhaus Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) in the 1930s, Scandinavian designs in the 1950s and Pop Art furniture in the 1960s.
