Hartley Wood Glass

Established in 1837 the Hartley family of glassmakers founded the Wear Glass Works in Sunderland, England which became well known for the manufacture of window glass. They provided much of the roof glazing for The Great Exhibition in 1851. In the 1920s the company prospered due to demand for memorial stained glass windows after the Great War and as a small side line produced unique hand blown 'antique' art glass vases.
