Hagenauer Metalware

In 1898 Carl Hagenauer (1872-1928) founded his workshop in Vienna to produce contemporary metal ware. His son Karl Hagenauer (1898-1956) continued the company into the 1920s with his designs strongly influenced by the works of the Wiener Werkstatte (1903-1932) founded by Koloman Moser (1868-1918) and Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956), Jugendstil and the Art Deco movements. The Hagenauer style became popular around the world from the 1920s to the 1950s winning awards at international fairs and exhibitions.
