Dodo Burgner

Dodo Burgner (1907-1998) was born in Berlin as Dorte Clara Wolff to a Jewish family. Here she studied art and became a successful freelance fashion designer and illustrator in Weimer Berlin's bohemian society of the 1920s and 1930s. She designed stage costumes for Marlene Dietrich and illustrated for the German satirical magazine 'Ulk'. In 1936 Dodo Burgner emigrated to London where she illustrated children's books and later in life painted landscapes.
