Henry Ryland (1856-1924) was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite group of painters, especially the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti and painted in the genre of this movement. This image of his painting has been sandwich-mounted behind curved glass, the method being called a Crystoleum, a unique method of presenting photographic images in the Victorian era. This crystoleum is still in its original highly ornate carved wood frame.
